Web Design
The approach to web design and web development on the Isle of Wight is no different to that in any other part of the world. Everyone has access to tools that make authoring HTML pages easy. This fact alone means that professional web designers and developers like those employed at wight365 have to work a damn sight harder to substantiate the money they charge. The trick for us isn't getting the website built, it's getting it built right, and then getting internet users to come back again and again.
There's no escaping the fact that websites have to 'look right'. Design concepts and execution of page layout are a crucial factor on the road to creating a successful website. The visual representation of your site speaks volumes about your attitude to your business. A badly designed website can give totally the wrong impression and may even hand the advantage to your competitors. Usability of the site, the way a visitor navigates around information and the way in which that information is presented, is also a major factor in the design process. Adhering to web standards and fulfilling the many other criteria that allow universal access to your site adds one more layer of responsibility to the design process.
At wight365 we design for our clients, not for ourselves. We spend time looking at your business, your products, your market, your competitors - a little bit of research at the start of the project has a significant effect on the end product!
We understand that the majority of people visiting your site are not technically aware. They probably only get new browsers when they upgrade their computers—not when one company or another decides to release an update. The people who visit your web pages may know nothing about plug-ins or Java or anything other than "www." In fact, they may not even what "www" means. And although most regular, or business, internet users have acquired a good knowledge of how the web works, the majority of your audience are likely to be amongst the foremost group.
Once we have created a good 'paper model' of the way your website is going to behave, we start work on the digital graphics. The designs are then sent 'upstairs' to the technical team.
We maintain our own servers, so from the moment the first pages are built the website is on 'test and you will have access to your project. We believe in testing early and testing often! Fixing things at the beginning of the development process will be five to ten times less time-consuming than re-working a website after production. If our web designers have created a CMS (Content Management System) for your site you will be able to start adding and editing your pages straight away.
All of our websites perform well in the search engines - this is why we adopt web standards and good design practices. We can enhance the information on your site further to respond to key search patterns and phrases but you can read more about that in the 'web development' section of our services area.
As a client we encourage you to further your understanding of the internet so that you can get the best from your online presence and we have gained a great reputation for our after sales services - we don't just abandon you once we've had your money!
Why not take some time to look through our portfolio. There are many examples of the websites we have already created as well as examples of the kind of technical development work we undertake.
