Podcasting
Podcasting is now available on the wight365 site. It's essentialy a funky automated solution for distributing media files (in this case mp3) over the internet. There's three steps involved in setting up your personal computer to receive podcasts.
- Acquire some podcast software
You'll need to download a piece of software which will periodically search the web to find the latest broadcast in the series, the next addition to the recorded Skandia Cowes Week performances for example. A good list of podcast software is available on podcastingnews.com
- Add the address of the "feed" to your software.
Once you have the software, choose the feed that you'd like to have automatically delivered to your computer every time there's a new addition. To "subscribe" to a feed all you need to do is copy the address of the podcast and add it to your podcast application. (There's screenshots of how it works in ITunes at the top of the page).
- You are green to go
When new content becomes available your software will automatically download it and notify you. You can listen to the mp3 on your pc or transfer it to your portable mp3 player to listen to later.
ry coder
Ryland is both our chief organizer and project analyst, and he still finds the energy to 'head-up' the wight365 technical team. A computer science graduate, he spent time with the MOD before being invited to join us on the south coast. We're pleased to say, he's still here!
As a 'coder' Ryland has wide ranging experience of current Microsoft technologies as well as many of the 'open source' alternatives.
