An in-sight into Skandia Cowes Week

Webcams have been a feature on the wight365 and Cowes Yacht Haven websites for over a year, they're currently providing a unique insight into two extremely busy companies during Skandia Cowes Week.

There are seven webcams placed around Cowes Yacht Haven, each giving a slighly different perspective on the hustle and bustle of Cowes Week. You can, for example, catch a glimpse of Tom and the Isle of Wight Radio Team broadcasting live from 2pm every afternoon during Cowes Week from the Wight365 office.

Our webcam software has been re-written and optimised over the past few days to cope with the huge increase in demand; we simply hadn't anticipated them being such a hit. The webcams have been plugged heavily this week on Tom's show which would explain the massive spike in traffic.

A big thanks has to go to Josh our summer intern for coming up with an optimised and elegant delivery solution in such a short space of time.

If you need webcams, or have an interest in using them in the future, why not give us a call.

Ryland is both our chief organizer and project analyst, and he still finds the energy to 'head-up' the wight365 technical team. A computer science graduate, he spent time with the MOD before being invited to join us on the south coast. We're pleased to say, he's still here!

As a 'coder' Ryland has wide ranging experience of current Microsoft technologies as well as many of the 'open source' alternatives.
